I listen to the wind

I wrote the following poem after reading
“There is no such thing as conversation. It is an illusion.”

“I listen to the wind”

Reading this reminded me of my morning ritual
Usually between 5 and 7 in the morning
I go outside, until it gets too cold
And I listen………..

I listen to the wind,
The sound of cars on the freeway
The sound of passing jets
But mostly I listen to the birds

The Robin Tweets his song
He’s an early riser
With a lot to say

Sometimes I answer him back
Whistling my imitation bird tweet
Testing my skills

Mostly this just annoys him
I’m not fluent enough
To tweet in Robin

So in the end
I just listen
To his commentary
And marvel at his Tweeting
